PSL officially confirms league season

The Premier Soccer League has officially confirmed the fixtures for the 2024/25 Betway Premiership, with the Tshwane derby set to kick off the league season on September 14.

Reigning league champions Mamelodi Sundowns will host SuperSport United at Loftus Versfeld that Saturday in one of two matches that will get the Premiership under way.

The other fixture will see Royal AM host Cape Town City at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg.

On the same day, Orlando Pirates will kick off their league season at home to Chippa United at the Orlando Stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs are away to Marumo Gallants, who bought the topflight status of Moroka Swallows at Free State Stadium, also at 5.30pm on the opening day.

The league’s most-watched fixture of the calendar, the first Soweto derby will take place when Pirates host Chiefs on February 1 at the FNB Stadium.

The second Soweto derby will see Chiefs host Pirates at FNB on May 3 next year.

The Nedbank Cup final, which normally concludes the domestic season, has been scheduled for May 10. Written by Ntsako Mkhari
