Political party, Operation Dududula, has defended its call for the removal of Miss SA contestant, Chidimma Adetshina, from the pageant.
The party says the 23-year-old doesn’t embody the core values of South Africa and can’t therefore be considered to be an ambassador for the country.
The party’s spokesperson, Zandile Dabula, says they will be marching to the Miss SA Organisation’s offices on Friday, the eve of the finals of the competition, should the Home Affairs Minister, Leon Schreiber, fail to set the record straight on the 23-year-old’s citizenship and the nationality of her mother, who is said to be of Mozambican descent.
Adetshina’s nationality has divided the country with some branding those who want her disqualified from the competition – xenophobic.

Her stance is very clear and consistent… should you wonder, you’ll find it in her music👏🏾

Dabula says too many questions about the young woman need to be answered and wants tangible proof of where she was born and grew up.
Operation Dudula says Miss SA will not take place this Saturday, should authorities fail to heed to their demands.
Following a lengthy silence on the matter, the Home Affairs Minister today confirmed that the department is investigating the matter.
He says he is only heeding the call of the organisers of the Miss SA competition, who have approached them in a bid to lay this matter to rest.
The Department of Home Affairs yesterday received an official request from the organisers of Miss SA to enquire into the citizenship of a contestant in an upcoming event. The request included consent from the affected individuals.
