Proteas bowler, Kagiso Rabada, says there’s no point in thinking about the team’s bad luck in knockout matches of the ICC tournaments after their Super Eight win against USA yesterday at the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The Proteas have found themselves on the losing end of big matches at World Cups, a trend that started in the 1999 ODI World Cup. Since then, they have infamously earned the ‘chokers’ tag in the cricketing world after losing in several knockout games.
“There’s no point thinking about it,” said Rabada.
“We take it game by game, and the belief is there. If you don’t have the belief, you might as well go pack your bags and go home. Whatever happens after that, happens. But the belief is there.”

Rabada insisted they were not looking too far ahead and were focusing on their next two matches in an attempt to book their place in the T20 World Cup semifinals for the first time since 2014.
Rabada also affirmed that there is belief within the team to qualify for the final four, and they are looking to take it game by game.
The win against the USA put the Proteas top of Group 2 in the Super Eights, with England and West Indies kicking off their second-round stage later on Thursday. Written by Ntsako Mkhari
