Public Protector, Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka’s office is unfazed by the Pretoria High Court order regarding her matter involving her predecessor, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

The two are at loggerheads over Mkhwebane’s bid to get her R10 million gratuity.

Yesterday, Judge Colleen Collis found that Gcaleka might have made inaccurate allegations in her affidavit submitted in court in response to Mkhwebane’s demands.

The judge gave the Public Protector until the end of business today to provide her predecessor with records of why she is denied her R10-million gratuity, among others.

Judge Collis also removed the case from the urgent court roll, declaring that “(It’s) not ripe for hearing.”

Public Protector Acting Spokesperson Ndili Msoki spoke to YNews.

He says the Public Protector won’t entertain any unfounded allegations levelled against her and is now awaiting a ruling on the merits of the case.

PPSA MEDIA STATEMENT – 19 April 2024-2

Advocate Mkhwebane, however, believes otherwise.

She says she is entitled to her gratuity despite her having been removed from office by a vote of no confidence by Parliamentarians.

Speaking to YNews, Mkhwebane accused Gcaleka of having invented her own law when she claimed the former Public Protector didn’t leave the office out of her own will.

In a social media post on X, Mkhwebane teased her successor, saying she must be charged with perjury for allegedly lying under oath.

In another post, she had social media users coming out in her support, as she demanded that Gcaleka adhere to the court order and submit the required documents. Written by Nokwazi Qumbisa
