Phala Phala farm theft accused siblings, Froliana and her brother David Josep have been released on R5 000 and R10 000 bail respectively.

The pair made brief appearances at the Bela Bela Magistrate Court today, alongside their co-accused 39-year-old, Imanuwela David.

The trio is accused of stealing roughly $580 000 in cash from the President’s Phala Phala game farm.

Magistrate Predeshni Ponnan ordered the siblings not to communicate with witnesses for the prosecution. Their passports will also remain with police until the finalisation of the trial.

The Magistrate cited Froliana and David’s willingness to co-operate with the police and them not having resisted arrest as reasons for his decision to grant them bail.

Meanwhile, the state says it will be opposing bail for the alleged mastermind of the theft, David.

The 39-year-old will make his return to the Bela Bela Magistrate Court on the 6th of December for a formal bail application. Article by Naomi Kobbie
