TS Galaxy have taken to social media to wish their player Bernard Parker well after he sustained a horrific injury last night during a clash against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Cup at the Mbombela Stadium.
Parker was injured by Sundowns midfielder, Bongani Zungu, with an over the ball tackle, which resulted in the veteran being stretchered off in the 58th minute with what looked like a clean leg break.
Zungu was subsequently sent-off for the horrible challenge on the former Kaizer Chiefs player, who was seen applauding the crowd while being stretchered off the pitch.
The match ended 2-2 after extra time, but Galaxy managed to steer their way into the quarterfinals of the tournament via a penalty shootout, becoming the first team to beat the Brazilians this season.
After the match, the Galaxy staff as well as coach Sead Ramovic visited Parker in hospital, where they wished the 37-year-old a quick comeback into the game.
We wish @BernardParker a speedy recovery following a horrific injury last night. We’ve lost a soldier whom we shall dearly miss as our journey on the battlefield continues. Come back stronger, Die Hond! We dedicate last night’s victory to you❤️#Siyadumuza #TheRockets #TSG pic.twitter.com/3i3PKXQW3K

The extent of Parker’s injury is yet to be revealed.
Soccer fans have meanwhile lashed out at Zungu for his conduct after Parker’s injury.
The soccer star tried to contest the red card handed to him following the tackle, much to the disappointment of many sport lovers who slated him for the lack of sportsmaship.
What a horrible tackle. Zungu also revealed how arrogant and selfish he is because he showed no remorse and no empathy for breaking someone’s leg and ending the career of a legend. Zero ubuntu pic.twitter.com/ZrLuTigvkJ

This is what we expected from Bongani Zungu after he broke Bernard Parker’s leg not being arrogant and acted all innocent, even when he saw the damage.
Marcelo stepped on Sanchez’s leg and immediately tried to stop the play and attended him, that’s human ❤️⚽ pic.twitter.com/3B5QXdbWww

” I can only wish Bernard Parker a speedy recovery. I hope it’s not as serious as it looks. Knowing Bongani Zungu, I know it was not malicious and there was no intent behind it. The only thing I can say is that I wish Parker a speedy recovery”- Sundowns Coach Rulani Mokwena”
