Former Miss South Africa and businesswoman, Basetsana and her husband Romeo Kumalo, have won their defamation case against author, Jackie Phamotse.
The couple’s court battle had begun five years ago over a tweet.
In that 2018 post, Phamotse alleged that there was a sex tape involving the Kumalos and a young male rapper.
The tweet read: “Just overheard a painful conversation, a female TV mogul pleading with one of my girls to not share videos of her drunk and her husband [sic] rimming a celebrity boy!!!!!!!!! What the hell!!!! What kind of marriages do we have now!!! I have asked to see this video.”
And while she did not name the Kumalos – the State believes that she tweeted with the intent to defame them.
The motivational speaker and famous author will know next month what her sentence is, after the matter was postponed in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court to the 24th of October.
She has been found guilty on four counts of crimen injuria.
Speaking outside court, the former beauty queen described this victory as a reminder to people to respect other people and stop cyber bullying.
She also detailed how grateful she is that this matter is finally being put to bed.
