Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Teboho Mokoena, and Orlando Pirates talisman, Monnapule Saleng, were the biggest winners at the 2022/23 PSL Awards on Sunday night.
Mokoena walked away with the PSL Footballer of the Season and DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season titles, while Saleng was crowned the DStv Premiership Players’ Player of the Season and MTN8 Last Man Standing winner.
Sundowns head coach, Rhulani Mokwena, was named the Coach of the Season after he guided the Brazillians to the sixth consecutive DStv Premiership title.
The accolades did not end there for Masandawana as 21-year-old striker, Cassius Mailula, scooped the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season award while Khuliso Mudau and Ronwen Williams won the DStv Premiership Defender and DStv Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season awards respectively.
The Stellenbosch FC duo of Olwethu Makhanya and Iqraam Rayners took home the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament awards respectively, while Cape Town City youngster, Luphumlo Sifumba, grabbed the DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season award.
PSL chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza, also handed out the Chairman’s Award to the late Peter “Squire” Mancer and Alex “Goldfinger” Shakoane who both passed on this year.
