Limpopo club, Polokwane City, have gained promotion to the DStv Premiership after they were crowned champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Sunday afternoon.
Rise And Shine beat Pretoria Callies 4-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium to reclaim their spot in South Africa’s top flight.
Cape Town Spurs sat atop the log standings going into final matchday of the season held University of Pretoria to a 1-1 draw at the Athlone Stadium.
Elsewhere, Casric Stars who were also chasing promotion ended 2-2 against All Stars at the Tsakane Stadium.
Those results saw City climb to the summit of the log standings on the final day of the season.
The victory also saw the side earn a R5 million prize money for their efforts.
Due to the title race going down to the last day of the season, and the three teams in the race playing their matches in three provinces, the Premier Soccer League decided that the trophy, team medals, and winner’s cheque, will be awarded at a later stage with the details of the presentation will be confirmed in due course.
Spurs and Stars will have yet another opportunity to make it into the Premiership by partaking in the upcoming PSL Promotion playoffs.
