Mthokozisi Thwala says if he knew who killed Senzo Meyiwa – he would have already exposed the culprit.

He was being cross-examined for the sixth day yesterday at the high court in Pretoria where the trial of the slain Bafana Bafana captain is being heard.

The defence has accused Thwala of fabricating certain aspects of his oral testimony. Many details of his testimony contradicted both Kelly Khumalo’s written statement and Tumelo Mandla’s court testimony.

Defence Advocate, Zithulele Nxumalo, has also accused Thwala of trying to make a mockery of Meyiwa’s killing.

A charge Thwala has denied. He has blamed police officials who initially took his written statements for not further probing the circumstances of Meyiwa’s death.

Thwala, Longwe Twala, Tumelo Madlala, Kelly Khumalo, her sister Zandi and mother Gladness, were present the night Meyiwa was gunned down in an alleged botched robbery in 2014.

The legal representative for accused number 5, advocate Zandile Mshololo, is scheduled to begin her cross-examination today. Article by Naomi Kobbie
