Senzo Meyiwa’s friend, Mthokozisi Thwala, is back on the stand in the high court in Pretoria.
He is being grilled over her statements on the killing of the Bafana Bafana star in 2014 at his girlfriend’s home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.
On Friday, Thwala struggled to provide a detailed description of the firearm used in the Bafana Bafana captain’s gruesome murder.
Thwala, singer Kelly Khumalo, her sister Zandi, Senzo’s friend Tumelo Madlala and Longwe Twala were among those present the night the footballer was murdered.
Mthokozisi Thwala described to the court how two intruders entered Kelly Khumalo’s family home that night – one armed with a firearm, the other a knife.
According to Thwala, the intruder armed with a gun carried it in his right hand, which he says was in plain sight. However, he couldn’t clearly describe the gun. This came at the back of state witness Tumelo Madlala’s previous testimony alleging that the murder weapon was old and rusty.
Defence lawyer, Sipha Ramoselepe, has attributed Thwala’s failure to describe the murder weapon to selective amnesia. He has also rejected his claims that gunmen tried to stop Longwe Twala from leaving the house.
