WeThinkCode_ aims to unlock and train untapped tech talent in Africa in order to drive the digitisation of African business.

Founded in 2015, WeThinkCode_ which is based in Johannesburg and Cape Town, has a 98% rate of employment among its programming graduates.

With no previous education or coding experience required, they offer tuition-free programmes that are open to young adults between the ages of 17 and 35. Their two-year world-class software engineering course offers a fun peer-to-peer learning environment, orientated around problem-solving.

WeThinkCode_ has large corporate sponsors like Absa, FNB, YOCO, Outsurance, and FinChatBot which fund their student’s tuition fees and provide a stipend of R2000 month (for food and transport) for the duration of their studies. WeThinkCode_ graduates then take up employment at their sponsor company for the duration equivalent to their bursary award.

With their WOMEN THINK CODE= initiative, they plan to expose, train, and mentor young women in coding/software development and expose them to the opportunities offered in the tech industry.

Listen here as CEO Nyari Samushonga, Graduate Prudence Mahlangu and Student Lekau Mamabolo tell Khutso Theledi about the institution’s vision and opportunities.
