Perspective on Y Sheds Light on Abortion

YFM, Gauteng’s biggest youth station, will be discussing the emotional turmoil women face when considering an abortion.

Co-host of The Best Drive, Altovise Lawrence, will break-down the shame, regret and rights that are associated with considering, or having, an abortion.

The show will look at how the decision to end a pregnancy is very personal, yet society still shames women for exercising this right.

Guests on the show will highlight the different types of abortions, each with their own advantages, disadvantages and risks.

Says show host, Altovise Lawrence: “I am pro-choice and believe that a woman should be able to have the primary choice when it comes to anything concerning her body. I believe that South Africans should stop looking at abortion as taboo and make sure resources and facilities are available to all women, irrespective of social and economic status. I look forward to hearing the different stories that will be brought to the fore, as well as finding ways to make women feel safe when they’re making decisions to either keep or terminate a pregnancy. I hope the listeners can open themselves up to this conversation, learn from it and possibly have a healthy debate.”
