{"id":8173,"date":"2020-07-16T14:47:02","date_gmt":"2020-07-16T12:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yfm.co.za\/devworld\/?p=8173"},"modified":"2020-07-16T14:47:02","modified_gmt":"2020-07-16T12:47:02","slug":"covid-19-gauteng-records-second-highest-deaths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yfm.co.za\/devworld\/2020\/07\/16\/covid-19-gauteng-records-second-highest-deaths\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19: Gauteng records second highest deaths"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Gauteng has recorded 767 coronavirus-related fatalities, as of Wednesday, 15 July 2020.<\/h4>\n<p>This means the province, which is already the epicentre of COVID-19, has the second highest number of deaths, after the Western Cape which has recorded 2,467 fatalities.<\/p>\n<p>Nationally, the number of infections has exceeded the 300 000 mark to reach a cumulative total of 311 049 confirmed COVID-19 cases, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize also announced.<\/p>\n<p>Mkhize has also confirmed a further 107 deaths, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 4 453.<\/p>\n<p>Of the newly-reported deaths, 41 were from Gauteng, 38 from Western Cape, 12 from North West and 4 from Eastern Cape, and 4 from KwaZulu-Natal.<\/p>\n<p>Mkhize has conveyed his condolences to the loved ones of the departed, and also thanked the health care workers who treated the deceased.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe total number of tests conducted to date is 2 278 127 with 45 389 new tests conducted since the last report.
