Judge William Karam, acknowledged the defence\u2019s frustrations but declined to intervene in decisions taken by Correctional Services, while emphasising that disclosure must be accessible and legally compliant.<\/p>\n
The court also flagged apparent errors in the indictment, including inconsistencies in the number of charges listed, instructing the State to review and correct them before the matter proceeds.<\/p>\n
Further concerns were raised over limited access to accused number three, who was transferred between correctional facilities late last year \u2014 a move defence attorneys say further delayed meaningful consultation.<\/p>\n
Judge Karam ruled that when the matter returns to court next Thursday, legal representatives for accused one, two and five must confirm whether they are ready for the pre-trial to be scheduled, while counsel for the remaining accused must update the court on any outstanding issues.<\/p>\n
A formal pre-trial date is expected to be set when the parties return to court on 12 February.<\/p>\n
