The South African\u00a0Weather Service (SAWS)\u00a0has issued a warning of possible severe thunderstorms and flooding across Gauteng this weekend.<\/p>\n

A yellow level 2 warning has been\u00a0issued for several provinces, including Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Free State.<\/p>\n

The harsh weather could also affect visibility, prompting motorists to exercise extra caution on the roads.<\/p>\n

Forecaster, Andre Fourie, says the drop in temperatures is a result of a low-pressure system that will affect the country from Saturday through to Monday.<\/p>\n

“The possible resulting impacts include the flooding of settlements and other properties. Dangerous driving conditions, damage to infrastructure, and the disruption of essential services.”<\/p>\n\t

    Meanwhile in Gauteng, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) and the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) will lead an operation ahead of the upcoming G20 Leaders Summit.<\/p>\n

    Several national routes \u2014 including the N1, M1 and N12 \u2014 will be closed on Saturday.<\/p>\n

    Key urban roads such as Jan Smuts Avenue, Grayston Drive, Oxford Road and Winnie Mandela Drive will also be affected.<\/p>\n
