Tributes continue to pour in for Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota, following the sad news of his death.<\/p>\n

The football fraternity has been left heartbroken after news broke that the 28-year-old and his brother were killed in a car crash, just two weeks after the football star’s nuptials.<\/p>\n

According to the Spanish authorities, the Portuguese national’s car, a Lamborghini, veered off the road after a tyre burst, resulting in it catching fire.<\/p>\n

Jota recently won the Premier League title with the Reds, and the UEFA Nations League with Portugal.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old moved to Wolves from Atletico Madrid in 2017, initially on a season-long loan before the move was made permanent. He went on to score 44 goals in 131 appearances across his three seasons with the club.<\/p>\n

He then left and joined Liverpool in 2020 after helping Nuno Espirito Santo’s side return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Liverpool say they are “devastated” by the loss the club describes as unimaginable.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for Liverpool, helping them win the FA Cup and League Cup in 2022 and the Premier League title last season.<\/p>\n

Jota previously played for Pacos de Ferreira, Atletico Madrid, Porto and Wolves – for whom he netted 44 goals in 131 games.<\/p>\n

His\u00a0 final match was for Portugal in their UEFA Nations League final win against Spain. He scored 14 goals in 49 internationals.<\/p>\n

His Liverpool teammates have expressed say they can’t believe that he is no more.<\/p>\n

Darwin Nunez was the first to post, sharing a picture of him and Jota celebrating a goal at Anfield.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are no words of comfort for so much pain. I will always remember you with your smile, as a good companion on and off the field. I send all my strength to his family, from where he is I’m sure he will always be with you, especially his wife and three children.\u201d \ud83d\udc94<\/p>\n

Luis Diaz added a post to his Instagram story, with Jota holding up the shirt with his name on the back, when the Colombian’s father was kidnapped.<\/p>\n

His Portugal teammates also reflected on memories with the forward.<\/p>\n

Manchester United and Portugal midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, led the tributes via his Instagram story.<\/p>\n

“May you and your brother find the peace you need to watch over your loved ones who lost you too soon and suddenly.”<\/p>\n
