The Public Servants Association (PSA) believes the tragic death of medical intern Dr. Alulutho Mazwi could have been avoided.<\/p>\n

PSA says they have consistently issued warnings about the toxic working conditions that junior medics endure in public hospitals, often at the hands of their seniors.<\/p>\n

It is alleged that the 25-year-old was forced to report for duty by a supervisor at the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Durban, despite having informed them of his ill health.<\/p>\n

He collapsed and died while on duty at the hospital on Monday.<\/p>\n

The message he sent to his manager before he was ordered to go work regardless of his situation is attached below.<\/p>\n

The hospital\u2019s CEO has since launched an internal investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n

Some of the medical interns at the hospital allege that he had collapsed twice before while on duty.<\/p>\n

PSA KZN Manager Mlungisi Ndlovu, says the challenges faced by junior doctors at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Durban are not unique to this facility.<\/p>\n\t
