Proteas fast bowler, Kagiso Rabada, has described this year’s edition of ICC’s Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, as a fresh start for the South African national cricket team.

South Africa have been drawn in Group D, alongside Canada, New Zealand, Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates.

The Proteas finished runners-up in the 2024 final and will be looking to go one better this time around.

They open their campaign on Monday afternoon against Canada in Ahmedabad.

Rabada says the disappointment of losing the final two years ago will be used as motivation heading into the tournament.

“So yeah, the plain and simple of it all is this a new tournament. However, you do need to, look at what you’ve done in the past and see it as motivation,” he said. “However, moving forward, we need to understand that this is a completely new tournament at different venues and against opposition that are maybe slightly different with game plans.”
