Some social media users are calling for justice following reports of the death of a man believed to be a controversial political figure, Goolam Vowda.

The 50-year-old, who was widely known for posting political exposés on X, was reportedly found at a hotel in Sandton on Wednesday  under circumstances that have not yet been disclosed.

Police say the man’s identity has not been officially confirmed and that an investigation into the death is underway.

Authorities have not released details on the cause of death and have not confirmed if the reports, as investigations continue.

Despite this, online speculation has intensified, with some users suggesting the death may be politically motivated — claims police have not substantiated.

Vowda was frequently embroiled in legal disputes and faced criminal charges linked to his social media activity, which often drew strong reactions from both supporters and critics.

In July 2024, ANC veteran Lindiwe Sisulu laid a criminal complaint against him, accusing him of spreading misinformation about her and other ANC members.

Despite his controversial track record, some social media users have reflected on his life and are calling on police to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into his death.

Some individuals, including Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema, however expressed different views.
