Some social media users are calling on Nigerian Grammy-winning singer, Burna Boy, to humble himself and apologise to the woman he had removed from his recent show in Denver, US as backlash over the incident continues to grow.

This comes as the Afrobeats star has cancelled several dates on his No Sign of Weakness North American tour.

While his team has not given reasons for the cancellations, some online users speculate they may be linked to the controversy and his response to it.

A viral video shows Burna Boy stopping his performance and instructing security to escort a woman out of the venue after she allegedly fell asleep during the show.

The woman has since spoken out, saying the experience was “very embarrassing and humiliating” for both her and her boyfriend.

“I don’t even know where to begin, but that was very embarrassing and humiliating to myself and my boyfriend,” she said in the TikTok comments of a video from the concert.

Days later, during an Instagram Live session, Burna Boy doubled down and refused to apologise, saying, “Did I tell you all to be my fans? I am only looking for fans who have money this period.”

He added that he would not tolerate anything that disrupts the energy of his performances.

The moment has since divided opinion online — with some accusing the Last Last hitmaker of disrespecting his supporters, while others argue he had the right to call out a concertgoer who appeared to be asleep.
